ORIENTATION INFORMATION

 


 

INITIAL ORIENTATION

All shooters must pass the orientation in order to shoot action pistol at the DAP range. DAP action pistol orientation classes are held every odd # month. Shooters are taught range safety, action pistol rules, and participate in an actual match on the second day of class. Check the DAP calendar for the next scheduled Orientation Class. New shooters are required to shoot 3 matcher per year to learn and maintain safe gun handling skills.

USI Action Pistol Orientation Information:

1. The minimum age to take the orientation or to participate in Action Pistol is 18.
2. Cost of Orientation Class is $30.00 on Saturday. The match fee on Sunday is $15.00.
3. Equipment needed

A) Double-Action Revolver or Semi-Auto Pistol chambered in 9mm or larger.
B) Minimum 3 speed loaders or magazines.
C) Holster that covers the trigger guard of the firearm.
D) Gun belt that goes through belt loops.
E) Eye protection.
F) Ear protection.
G) Closed toe shoes.
H) 200 rounds of ammo.

4. Class sign in 07:30, Sat. Class starts promptly @ 0800.
5. Match sign in 0800 on Sunday.
6. Read rules & regulations prior to class.
7. Bring gun, ammo & gear to class on Saturday and to the match on Sunday. In addition, since there is no lunch break, it is suggested that shooters bring a midday snack.
8. After successfully completing the class on Saturday and the match on Sunday, the shooter receives a AP Qualification Card to participate in future DAP matches & practices.

RETURNING SHOOTERS

Current DAP policy is that shooter’s must maintain the safe gun handling skills which apply to Action Pistol by frequent participation in the sport. Unless the Range Safety Officer is satisfied that a shooter possesses the necessary safe gun handling skills the orientation must be repeated. Shooters may be asked to demonstrate their skills for a Range Safety Officer.
