On the 13th of September we'll be having a special match. Not only is it our Buckle match where last years long awaited buckles be awarded but hopefully those for the 2008-2009 Point Series will also be here to be distributed as well. In addition we'll be serving a BBQ for the members, their families and guests. Kids are welcomed.
We're going to try something different this year. Since we're having lunch and don't want the match to run into the late afternoon, we're planning on having 5 to 10 ROs shoot the match on Friday or Saturday so as to be free to RO a stage for the match on Sunday. We're going to use open squadding with two ROs stationed on each stage. That, and doing away with the general walk-through, should make the match get underway sooner and move along much more quickly. The plan is to start early then stand down for lunch around 12:30 or so for the BBQ. Anyone who hasn't finished shooting by then will be able to finish up after lunch.
To help with that we're asking the stage designers to create interesting but quick turning stages. I have no problems with drop turners or swingers but let's keep their use to a minimum with simple, reliable activators. In addition Stage Procedures will have to be simple and clearly written since we not going to have a general walk through. Please, no multiple string stages, fancy procedures or stages with debatable legality. Moderate round counts will also help.
The match team is:
MATCH DIRECTOR: Jeff Scalier
SCOREKEEPER: Ali Schulz
REGISTRATIONS: Craig Hadox
BAY 1: Darrell Inouye
BAY 2: Ralph Pollard
BAY 3: Chris Lugos
BAY 4: Edgar Tumbaga
BAY 5: Ed San Mateo
We also need a half dozen volunteers to help with scorekeeping on the bays and with serving lunch. Mark Hadox and Rose Henry will head up the BBQ crew but they could use some help. Ali and Jeff have also volunteered but they have other duties and it would be nice if we don't wear them out or melt them down.
If any of you can lend a hand please let Jeff (bluestarhvac@sbcglobal.net), Mark (mark@eastinsure.com) or myself (J-Endress@Comcast.net) know.
Thanks in advance. Jim
