MATCH & PRACTICE INFORMATION

MATCHES
Once a shooter is qualified, he or
she can participate in the matches held on the 2nd and 4th
Sundays of each month at the DAP range facility. IPSC/USPSA
style matches are on 2nd Sundays and various other types of matches
are on the 4th Sundays. These may include 2 and 3
gun matches, IDPA style or ICORE (revolver) matches. Awards
plates following 2nd Sunday competitions are given for each level of
classification and for each division. The match signups close at 8:30 am and the
match usually ends about 2 or 3 pm. Scores are printed and
usually available for review within a few minutes after the match ends and are
generally posted on the web site within two days. Check
Match Scores
for the latest results of some recent matches. The monthly matches (2nd Sunday)
are usually shot in five separate stages, at IPSC type targets and metal falling
plates (poppers). A typical stage may require shooting thirty or more rounds
with varied multiple target presentations and shooting positions, all requiring
safe gun handling. All stages are timed and accuracy is also factored into the
score for a shooter’s overall "hit factor”.
Members are expected to assist Range
Officers and the Match Director in the setting up of shooting stages, takedown
of stages following matches, and assist during the course of matches with taping
targets, resetting steel, and picking up brass. In addition,
volunteers with limited computer experience are always appreciated to help in
entering results for the day's match.
After some experience members are
expected to:
-
Help with the
club matches by designing or selecting stages from available sources and
setting them up prior to the matches. This is usually done the Saturday
before a match.
-
Attend occasional work parties which are planned to maintain or build
props, cleanup the range or to accomplish other needs.
-
In addition, as
experience permits, to volunteer to be Match Director.
PRACTICE
Action pistol practice days are on
the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month and Thursday afternoons
depending on the weather and the availability of a certified Range Officer II
(RO2) who will open and monitor the range. Check
DAP
Calendar for RO2 schedule. Members are also encouraged
to use the website Forum topic “DAP Practice” to coordinate with Range Officers
to be sure there will be someone at the range to supervise the practice since
the presence of an Range Officer IS REQUIRED for practice sessions.
