EQUIPMENT
Shooters are required to have a serviceable and safe pistol, either
semi-automatic or revolver, with a minimum caliber of 9mm to participate in DAP
action pistol shooting. Members typically use semi automatic pistols or
revolvers made by Colt, Springfield Armory, Caspian, Kimber, Para Ordnance,
Smith & Wesson, Beretta, Glock, and other manufacturers. Ammunition must be
loaded to a power factor with the ability to knock down metal poppers which are
calibrated to fall when shot with the equivalent of a factory loaded 9mm round.
Semi-automatic pistols are classified either as "limited" or "open" depending
upon whether they are basically "out-of-box stock" or have the addition of
scopes and compensators. Revolver shooters are classified separate from
semi-auto shooters.

Holsters for firearms must cover the trigger of the firearm and
be worn on the shooter’s belt. Extra magazines or speed loaders may often be
required on longer stages which necessitates shooting at multiple targets.

THREE GUN MATCHES
For three gun matches, shooters typically use military style
centerfire rifles, auto or pump shotguns with extended magazines, and action
pistol. Shotgun shells should be loaded with shot no larger than #4 for steel
targets. In addition, shotgun slugs will be needed for shooting IPSC type
targets. Check with DAP officials before entering any three gun match to make
sure that you have the correct firearms, ammo, or have questions.
Three gun matches are held on days other than the normal monthly match days.

Shooters are also required to supply masking tape used for
patching holes in the paper targets. For safety, eye and ear protection is
required on the range at all times.
